Telephone Calls

We encourage patients to call with questions concerning their medical problems. The office staff has been trained to answer many of your questions, and they will relay your questions to the doctor. For questions other than emergencies, your call will be returned or responded to at the earliest opportunity.

Please remember that many disorders have the same symptoms, so requests for treatment may often require additional telephone calls and requests for information, or an office visit for examination.

We have installed a telephone system for the convenience of our patients. The system will transfer your calls to our telephone attendant or to the member who can best help you.

After-Hours Telephone Calls

If you find it necessary to contact the doctor after normal office hours, please call our office number for information. The answering service is also available at 410-326-8100 for after-hours and weekend coverage. Your call will be returned at the earliest opportunity.

This practice does not renew routine prescriptions or narcotic prescription after-hours as your records are not available for review by the physician. Please leave a voice mail message with your pharmacy so that your records can be reviewed and verified the next day and your prescription refilled during usual business hours.

Urgent & Emergency Care

We recognize that emergent situations arise, and we will do our best to respond to your problem promptly. In the event of a severe situation where you are unable to reach us immediately, go directly to the emergency room. If the situation is not emergent, but one where you wish to contact the doctor, please telephone the office and the doctor will be notified of the emergency and the staff will relay his directions.

Emergency Room Visits outside office hours no longer require pre-authorization by your doctor but should be reported to your physician within 24 hours following your visit. Be aware of your health plan limitations.

For life-threatening conditions, always call 911
